Originally adapted from an American patriotic song, the melody of our school song has become deeply ingrained in the hearts of generations of students and alumni. The lyrics, originally penned by the esteemed Sister Edward Marmion, have been artfully revised to capture the transformative journey experienced by every member of the Maryknoll family.

This exceptional project demonstrates remarkable connections and collaborative work among members of the Maryknoll community. It also infuses new life into the cherished melody, while honouring its timeless essence.

The music video features the journey of a young student entrusted to the care of the school. Surrounded by supportive friends and compassionate guidance of the school, she grows and flourishes within the Maryknoll family. The scene of passing on candle lights honours one of the most important virtues a Maryknoller upholds – “As one lamp lights another nor grows less, so nobleness enkindles nobleness”, depicting as she progresses through her education, she embraces her role as a mentor, passing on her knowledge and experiences to the younger ones.

Students’ graduation symbolises the successful completion of academic journey at the school, reaching out to home, to country and to the world. However, the story does not end there. Dedicated alumnae always return to the school, ready to contribute time, expertise, and resources to support our beloved alma mater, because “Once a Maryknoller. Forever a Maryknoller.”

The premiere of the music video was made at the MCS Centenary Kick-Off Ceremony on 17th February 2024.
