Light Up Christmas 2024 - MCSPS

In November 2024, our primary section introduced the "Light Up Christmas Project". Students and parents from the primary section were invited to join hands with us to spread joy and kindness. The "Light Up Christmas Project" commenced with (1) a Christmas Card Design Competition; followed by (2) the donation and wrapping of gifts for children from needy families; along with (3) the writing of heartfelt Christmas cards for these children.

1. Mindful Christmas Cards: Application of the Maryknoll Mindfulness Patterns

Students were invited to design Christmas cards, incorporating the Maryknoll Mindfulness Patterns they learned during the Mental Well-being sessions in their Moral Education classes. A total of 169 entries were submitted, showcasing impressive designs. Ten designs were chosen and printed as Christmas Postcards, including the inner design. The winning works, along with those chosen as outstanding and merit-worthy, were displayed for appreciation. Subsequently, 200 copies of Christmas cards were printed. Student representatives from all classes were invited to write cards for our gift recipients, showcasing our unique Maryknoll Print and Cursive Handwriting.

2. Gift Donation

The gift collection period took place between 25th and 29th November, 2024, with the invaluable support from MCSPS Parent Teacher Association. Thanks to the generosity of our parents, teachers and students, a total of 238 sets of toys and stationery were collected.

3. Gift Wrapping Extravaganza

Several Extra-Curricular Activities group, including MCS Explorer, Senior Brownies, Junior Brownies, and student volunteers from our primary section took part in wrapping the gifts and preparing the blessings donated by their schoolmates.

4. Gift Handover

As a culmination of our primary section's "Light Up Christmas Project", representatives from Christian Action: Centre for Refugees were warmly invited to visit our primary section. The wrapped gifts were officially handed over during the visit before being sent to the said centre.

On 21 December 2024, the Centre for Refugee hosted a Christmas party for refugee children in Hong Kong, when the children received the thoughtful gifts and Christmas cards prepared by our girls, parents and fellow members from the primary section.
